The Diaries of a Fat Chick

My name is Kelly K.  I used to be Kelly Rose but three years ago I married a charming, if slightly nerdish, fellow who I like to refer to as Ben (which isn’t his real name, heck it isn’t even his middle name, he just looks like a Ben to me).  We live in BC, Canada and I work as a financial statement typist for an accounting firm.  I also dabble in a bit of HR related activities for the company, even though I’m not, as my husband says with a certain amount of delicacy, a real people person.  The irony of this does not escape me.

I grew up in a small town in Ontario (Napanee to be exact - and no I don’t know Avril Lavigne) until I was 16 and then moved to Calgary.  After 10 years of prairie living, I moved to BC and I’ve been here for the last six years.   I’ve been fat my entire life and up until just over a year ago I was just getting fatter and fatter.  Finally, when I was tipping the scales at a hefty 381lbs, in January of 2006 I joined Weight Watchers for the one billionth time and this time it finally clicked. 

I am childless and always will be because, frankly, I am selfish and impatient by nature and would not make a good mother.  I have Ben, my hobbies and my pets and that’s more than enough.

Ben and I share our lives with a menagerie of pets.  I’d list them all here but the actual number would cause many of you to twirl your finger at the side of your head and announce loudly enough for everyone in the general vicinity to hear, that I am weird.  Which I am.  But the whole internets does not need to know this.  Read the blog, take copious notes and eventually you’ll figure out just how many pets I am owned by.

 And lastly a list of likes and dislikes, because who doesn’t love those:

 Likes:  Pop Tarts, movies, sushi, Starbucks coffee, people named Jessica, grilled cheese sandwiches, bunnies and my mama.

Dislikes:  babies with pierced ears, bugs, hot weather, bad grammar, feet, scooping kitty litter, raisins, rude sales clerks and mornings.

 Also - I put this picture up here because it’s a flattering shot of me and I am vain.  But it should be noted that, sadly, I generally do not look this good.
